Traverse City Opera House

Featuring a barrel vault ceiling, fresco paintings, gold leaf accents and Victorian styling, the Traverse City Opera House with its 700-seat theater offers a place for quality arts and cultural entertainment, educational programming and public and private gatherings.

The Traverse City Opera House, at 106 East Front Street, was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1971 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The City Opera House has been a venue for plays, concerts, operettas and dance performances as well as gala balls, conventions and banquets.

The City Opera House partners with Michigan State University’s Wharton Center for Performing Arts to bring a variety of performances to downtown Traverse City. In addition, City Opera House is the venue for popular events such as the National Writers Series and Traverse City Film Festival
