Walking through downtown Pentwater, you’re struck by the colorful storefronts that beckon you inside to explore their unique items- perfect for your home or that special gift. Discuss the day’s news inside one of Pentwater’s cozy restaurants, or take an ice cream cone and sit on the soft grass on the Village Green. The cool breezes off Lake Michigan will refresh you, and it’s fun to watch the boats come in and out of Pentwater marinas. Slip onto a side street and admire the charming Victorian homes and cottages. There are also many great festivals and events to enjoy!
Homecoming Weekend is the most popular event all summer in Pentwater. Those that call Pentwater home, or others that previously resided here, enjoy all the festivities that celebrate the wonder of Pentwater. Visitors come and fall in love with the town. Throughout the weekend, activities include a sandcastle contest, strawberry shortcake sale, golf scramble, softball tournament, parade, concert featuring the Scottville Clown Band, and MSU tailgate party.
Three times each year, the Pentwater Village Green hosts large Arts & Crafters Fairs with vendors from all over the country. You’ll find handmade crafts, antiques, demonstrations of a special skill or art, food, and live music.
The Pentwater area offers many opportunities to enjoy live music throughout the summer. The most popular being the Pentwater Civic Band concerts on Thursday nights. Enjoy the nostalgia of the community band playing music under the gazebo, watch the children dancing, and go ahead and laugh when some of the audience joins the kids for the chicken dance!
Pentwater’s Oktoberfest, held in October, is growing bigger every fall. There are a variety of activities for all ages and many interests. Highlights include the Classic Car and Hot Rod Show and Cruise.
If you’re in the mood for an old-fashioned Christmas, Pentwater is where you want to be. Their Christmas in the Village takes place throughout the month of December. Pentwater’s shops, art galleries, and restaurants will be decked out for the holiday season and puts you in a festive mood. There are also special events like a tree lighting, Santa’s arrival, horse-drawn carriage rides, caroling, and more.
