The skies are heavy with ominous clouds. Biting cold air envelops our bodies and the trees are ablaze with color. It’s late October- time for pumpkins, ghouls, and witches to come out and scare innocent souls, in search of a treat. 

Of course, we’re talking about Halloween, that most frightening time of year. West Michigan is not only beautiful in October, but there are plenty of annual events to satisfy the timid and those that dare to be scared!

In addition to Trick-or-Treating, check out the other fun fall events that are usually scheduled around the area.

Oceana County

  • Saturday, October 24th, 2026 at 12pm – Spooktacular in Downtown Pentwater – Costume contest, scavenger hunt,  and candy bags. Trick-or-Treating to downtown merchants. For detailed information, visit pentwater.org.

West Michigan Trunk-or-Treat Events and Halloween Parties That are Typically Scheduled:

Mason County

  • Mini Golf Trick or Treating at the Ludington Area Jaycees Mini Golf- 900 W. Ludington Ave., Ludington. School-age children are invited to mini golf for free while trick-or-treating around the course. Costumes or Halloween attire are encouraged.
  • Mom’ster Bash sponsored by WMOM Radio. The COMPLETELY free event is open to the public and includes food, hay rides, trick or treat bags, face painting, balloon animals, multiple bounce houses, costume contest for those age 12 and under, and much more. Mason County Fairgrounds- 5302 US-10, Ludington. Limited to 2,000 people and tickets must be reserved at 1027wmom.com by October 10th, 2025.
  • Trunk or Treat at the Jolly Plate- 2516 N. US-31, Scottville.
  • Haunted Village & Trick or Treat at Historic White Pine Village – 1687 S. Lakeshore Dr., Ludington.
  • Halloween Party for Teens at the Scottville Library- 204 E. State St., Scottville. Kids age 12-18 are invited. 
  • Trunk or Treat at Ludington Elementary School- 5571 W. Bryant Rd., Ludington. The event is a benefit for the Ludington Girls Basketball Program. Admittance is a cash donation and the event includes candy, fun games, and prizes. 
  • Trunk or Treat at Ludington High School- 508 N. Washington Ave., Ludington.
  • Wizard of Oz Halloween Party at Legacy Plaza sponsored by Safe Harbor Credit Union – This free event is open to the public and includes games, prizes, treats, and activities.
  • Pumpkins in the Parking Lot at St. John’s Lutheran Church – 209 N. Rowe St. in Ludington. Kids activities and candy provided.
  • Trunk or Treat at United Methodist Church of Ludington- 5810 Bryant Rd., Ludington. Event also includes bounce house, pumpkin carving, snacks, and more.
  • Trunk or Treat at Our Savior Lutheran Church – 765 W. US-10, Scottville.
  • Truck or Treat at the Hamlin Fire Department- 3773 Jebavy Dr., Ludington. See fire trucks, meet fire fighters, and get treats.
  • Halloween Party & Indoors Trunk or Treat at St. Paul United Methodist Church – 3212 W. Kinney Rd. in Ludington.
  • Trunk or Treat at Calvary Baptist Church- 220 N. Jebavy Dr., Ludington.
  • Boo Bash Trick or Treating at the Free Soil Area Senior Center- 8480 N. Democrat St., Free Soil. 
  • Trick or Treating at West Shore Family Support – 603 E. Tinkham Ave., Ludington. Treats, cider, and donuts will be available.
  • Trick or Treating at Oakview Medical Care Facility- 1001 Diana St., Ludington.
  • Trick or Treating at Vendor Row- 5762 US-10, Ludington.
  • Tents & Treats at Cornerstone Baptist Church – Trick-or-treat in the parking lot. Attendees should enter off Nelson Rd. and park on the West side of the parking lot. Exit will be off the north driveway to Lawndale St. Cornerstone Baptist Church- 121 Nelson Rd., Ludington.
  • Adult Ghoul’s Night Out at the Tiki- 212 E. Ludington Ave., Ludington. Music, cash prize costume contest, Halloween cocktails, and drink specials.
  • Adult Monster’s Ball & Afterlife Party at Sand Bar- 203 S. James St., Ludington. Party includes a costume contest, prizes, music, & food/drink specials.
  • Adult Halloween Party & Costume Contest at The Alley- 223 S. James St., Ludington. DJ starts at 10pm, 21+, Costume Contest winner announced at midnight. $3 cover.

Oceana County

  • Trunk or Treat at the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services – 4081 W. Polk Rd., Hart.
  • Trunk or Treat at Trinity Lutheran Church – 5631 W. Stony Lake Rd., New Era. The event includes games, treats, prizes, & free lunch.
  • Trunk or Treat on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes (Park by exit road backed up towards the pedestrian area). Group photo at 11:45am in the pedestrian area. Participants should come in costume. 
  • Trunk or Treat at Custer VFW Post 5096 – 2022 State St., Custer
  • Tractors & Treats at the West Michigan Research Center- 5185 N. Oceana Dr., Hart.
  • Trunk or Treat at the Oceana County Council on Aging – 4250 W. Tyler Rd., Hart.
  • Free donuts at the Pentwater Fire Department- 486 E Park St, Pentwater.
  • Trunk or Treat on Michigan Avenue in downtown Shelby. Businesses, organizations, and neighbors will hand out treats. 
  • Harvest Party at Hart Christian Fellowship- 408 S. Stage St., Hart.
  • Adult Halloween Party at the Village Pub- 347 S. Hancock St., Pentwater. Live music featuring The Formers.
  • Mystical Halloween Soiree at Murphy’s Tavern- 8848 N. 80th Ave., Pentwater.

Manistee County

  • Trunk or Treat at Conrad’s Auto Repair- 320 W. Parkdale Ave., Manistee. Event will also include popcorn, donuts, cider, and coloring drawings.
  • Spooktacular Youth Party at Armory Youth Project – 555 1st St., Manistee. All students in 6-12th grade are invited and admission is free. Event includes food, games, prizes, dancing and more. Costumes are encouraged. Call (231) 299-1205 or visit armoryyouthproject.com for more info. 
  • Brethren Boosters Trunk or Treat at Dickson Township Park- 14279 N. Coates Hwy, Brethren.
  • Trunk or Treat at Manistee Indoor Flea Market- 160 Memorial Dr., Ste 102, Manistee.
  • Trunk or Treat at Good Shepherd Church, located at 521 Cypress St., Manistee.
  • Trunk or Treat at Aki Community Center – 2953 Shaw Be Quo Ung, Manistee.
  • Trick or treating at Maple Grove Township Community Center- 9208 Kauko St., Kaleva.
  • Trick or Treating at Green Acres Assisted Living – 1835 12th St., Manistee. 
  • Trick-or-Treating and Halloween Party at Maple Grove Community Center – 9208 Kauko St., Kaleva. Costume parade with judging at 7pm. Prizes in six categories. Hot dogs, chips, drink for $2 donation.
  • Trunk or Treat at at Finch Park and Arcadia Fire Station- 17240 5th St., Arcadia.
  • Bear Lake PTA Trunk or Treat at the Bear Lake School Bus Loop- 7748 Cody St., Bear Lake.

  • Halloween Party at the Manistee American Legion – 10 Mason St., Manistee. Featuring food, live music by BVO, and costume contest.

Benzie County

  • Trunk or Treat at the Cherry Bowl Drive-In- 9812 Honor Hwy, Honor.
  • Trunk or Treat at Watson Benzie- 1514 Benzie Hwy, Benzonia.
  • Trunk or Treat on Main Street, Frankfort.
  • Trunk or Treat at the Almira Township Fire and EMS department- 7272 Ole White Dr., Lake Ann.

Lake County

  • Trunk or Treat at Chase Township Public Library- 8400 E. North St., Chase
  • DHD #10 Trunk or Treat at Baldwin Community Schools- 525 4th St., Baldwin. The event will also include face painting and games.
